60% of eBay Users hide their Auctions!

EBAY Has major bug which hides your auction from users but eBay contends that is it an user error - regardless it’s 60% ERROR!
Potentially 1000’s of eBay Motors sellers are losing a huge chuck of buyers (and likely sales dollars) to a bug in their system. I tried pointing this out to them, but they refuse to fix it. They insist that 60% of eBay Motors ussrs are in error. Less than half of the vehicles like mine show up when searching using eBay Motor’s predefined filters. Of 55 currently listed vehicles like mine - only 23 show up! Their response is to try to relist the item and see what happens! I already have 14 bidders - relisting is not an option.
Fortunately, I’m a POWERSELLER - i had the ability to try to resolve this issue with eBay using live chat! Good luck getting an answer to those who are not!
So the official word from eBay is to cancel the aution, ask for a credit and relist your items when you learn to use the site properly.
Here’s are chat conversation:
Lora S.: Hello, my name is Lora. Thanks for using PowerSeller Live Chat. How may I help you today?
rocksasart: I am selling a 2003 Silverado but it will not show up when using your filters - it will only display when using typed search. I am afraid this will seriously restrict the number of viewers for my auction. Please help.
filter for Chevy Silverado 2003 to 2003 yeilds 23 vehicles, but search for the same yeilds 55 - this is a serious error on the part of your site!
Lora S.: Ok, what was the item number?
rocksasart: looking
rocksasart: 220084774345
Lora S.: I have reviewed this listing and I can see that it is appearing correctly, you can see all of the pages your listing is appearing by following the steps below:
1. Click the “site map” link found at the top of most eBay pages.
2. Click the “Where Is My Item?” link located in the middle column under “Selling Activities”.
3. Enter the Item number in the space provided and click the “Search” button.
rocksasart: yes, but - anyone who searches uses your filters will not see my auction
rocksasart: they will only see 23 of 55 - that is not right!
Lora S.: This item is appearing on the site so it is not being affected or held by a filter. This item only has 14 bids and that is the number of bids that is appearing.
rocksasart: why does my auction not appear using your ebay motors filters?
Lora S.: Your item does appear just fine, it is not caught in a filter or it would not appear at all.
rocksasart: you are missing my point!
rocksasart: please click on EBAY MOTORS - select CHEVROLET - select SILVERADO 1500
rocksasart: set years to 2003 to 2003 - you will not see my auction!
rocksasart: WHY NOT?
Lora S.: One moment while I check on that.
Lora S.: I am still checking on this, thank you for your patience.
rocksasart: ok
Lora S.: It looks like the make and model of your car was not specified in the Prefilled item information. That is why it will appear when you do a search for item title but not through the truck finder. When you list an item you enter the item specifics but you will also need to enter the prefilled item information so it is searchable through the truck finder.
rocksasart: so how is this fixed - 32 of 55 sellers have the same problem
Lora S.: This information cannot be added because this item has bids. But you can end the item and relist it with those corrections if you choose.
rocksasart: WHY DID 32 of 35 sellers have this same problem????
rocksasart: i’m sorry 32 of 55 sellers
Lora S.: They must not have added that information either.
rocksasart: SORRY - I can’t buy that - there is a problem with your system!
rocksasart: please fix it so that i don’t lose money!
Lora S.: There is not a problem with our system I did check with a technician and the information of the item specifics of this item were not added in the prefilled information section so it will not be locatable with the truck finder.
rocksasart: could you please evelvate this to your supervisor
Lora S.: One moment please.
slcgssup2: Hello, my name is Christopher Hunt, I am supervisor in the Powerseller \ Stores, please allow me a moment to review your previous conversation.
rocksasart: ok
slcgssup2: At this time I have been able to review your previous conversation as well as your listing and I can confirm the information that Lora provided you is correct. The information needs to be entered into the Pre filled item information as well. Currently the best recommendation that I can make is to end the item early and relist it with the changes.
rocksasart: so - of 55 current sellers 32 of us are dumb and made the same mistake?
slcgssup2: It would appear that the 32 sellers you are mentioning performed the same steps that you did. Which would be incorrect.
rocksasart: so you are satisfied that your site is working properly if 60-70 % of users are doing it wrong?
slcgssup2: I am satisfied that the site is operating correctly as there has been no malfunction of the features on the site. You are right it does appear that sellers are unaware that they need to complete the additional step, that does not however mean it is “broken”.
rocksasart: so no help but to end the auction and potentially lose $5500 bid that is curretnly on the item?
slcgssup2: At this time that is the only option, even if there were a site issue once a bid has been placed not even eBay revise a listing. The only possibility is to end it and relist it.
rocksasart: so - should the other 31 folks be notified of this problem - and many 1000s other in other categories?
slcgssup2: Because there is no malfunction eBay is not going to notify members they have done all of the options for all features, as the item is still searchable through direct searching, through categories and sellers other items lists.
rocksasart: well, if this is the best you can do, i will spend the rest of the day submitting our conversation and my commentary to all blogs and news sites that I can find. Maybe we’ll be on DIGG so that others will learn from my mistake.
rocksasart: or you can try harder to resolve the problem for myself and others
slcgssup2: Its not a matter of being unwilling, the solution is to end the item and relist, I understand that is not an ideal solutions however it will rectify the issue you are facing.
rocksasart: i would accept this if i were the only one. When i discovered that 32 of 55 had the same problem - it is no longer my problem - it is eBay’s!
rocksasart: Your reluctance is my money. eBay already got theirs of course!
slcgssup2: At this time there is nothing further that can be offered to you, I have explained how to resolve your issue, the choice is yours, if you end your item early you would be credited for those fees. So you could relist the item with out being charged twice. I leave that choice to you.
rocksasart: what about the other 31 people and countless 1000s in ohter categories?
rocksasart: You are saying that 60% of ebay motors ads should be cancelled if they want all eBay users to find them?
slcgssup2: What I am saying is, that if a member would like to make their items visible they will follow the same steps I have provided to you.
rocksasart: OK - last chance - elevate this to someone that is willing to recognise the problem?
slcgssup2: There is no issue to escalate as nothing has malfunctioned.
rocksasart: you gotta agree how funny this conversation will be to the internet community. Please - lets resolve it instead of turnign it into something else!
slcgssup2: I have you provided you the resolution what more can I do to assist you?
rocksasart: assist the 60% of ebay motors users!
rocksasart: ie - fix your site so “we” don’t make this error
slcgssup2: I will pass along a recommendation to more information provided on the sell your item for, but if sellers choose for whatever reason not to fully complete the SYI form there is not much eBay can do.
rocksasart: i disagree - as a good business practice - it is your responsibility to help users make correct choices - 60% error is too funny!
rocksasart: so in summary, 60% of ebay motors users are listing improperly and are invisible to buyers using your filter system?
slcgssup2: There is no error, they did not fill out the SYI form that is not eBay fault, the feature is on the form, you chose for whatever reason not to fill this out. eBay can not force seller to fill out the SYI in its entirety,
rocksasart: So, then we agree - 60 of ebay users are making an error - eBay site is working properly?
slcgssup2: We have made the option available, the form was not completed. I have instructed you on how to resolve it, I will pass along your concern about how it is affecting items on the site. Other than this issue is there anything else I can assist you with?
rocksasart: best wishes to you then. maybe we’ll be stars when this is dugg! Meg will be so proud of you!
rocksasart: would you like to backstep? I really want to resolve this!
slcgssup2: Thank you for your time, if you decide to follow the instructions to end the item and relist, please let us know so we can credit your account for the item fees.
slcgssup2: What course of action would you like me to follow, I have told you how to resolve this?
rocksasart: very well - i guess i’ll do that and try to spread the good news to other usrs so that we don’t continue making the same mistake.
slcgssup2: ok, once the item has been ended, please send us the item number and we can issue the credit to your account.
rocksasart: you’ll be seeing a few of them - i promise!
